Just because I don't write doesn't mean I don't care

Lately I just can never find the time to blog. I love doing it I just don’t have the time to write. Although I do go online at least every other day and read others blogs. I really do enjoy that. I keep telling myself I’ll do better but then I never do. Only if I had my laptop. Ken was suppose to check with the Geek Squad yesterday about taking a look at the laptop but I’m not sure what he found out. I forgot to ask him last night when I got home from work.

Quick update on our life. Ken is in school this week (in town, thankfully). He has been spending a lot of time in school since we got married. All this goes towards promotions at work so it’s fine with me. He has now been with Pinehurst PD for over 6 months and got a raise after his 6 month probation period was up and he has received a promotion as well as another raise. He is now a Senior Patrol Officer. Next up, Master Patrol Officer. Hopefully that’ll come this fall when he gets a few more hours towards his certificate. As far as my job, it’s the same ol’ same ol’. It seems the housing market is coming up a bit so I think my job is more secure now than it was just a month ago. I have yet to lose any weight even after working out 4 times last week. Ugh!! I’ll try again this week although I didn’t work out last night. The kids are doing well. E is on the tennis team so he doesn’t come as often during the week due to matches and school work taking up so much of his time. The girls, well they are girls. They loved the tennis camp they went to and this weekend is a huge Easter Egg Hunt, 15,000 eggs!!! M is out of school for her Spring Intersession so she’s enjoying her 3 week break, however, it will be cut short to make up some snow days.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently and need to find time to sit down so I can get it out. When I write I feel better, kind of therapeutic. I usually write things down then end up throwing it away so others won’t see it but I also enjoy sharing on here. We’ll see, hopefully I’ll find time soon.

I haven't run away, although I'd like to!

Once again it’s been forever since I’ve blogged so this one will be a long one…

Last Monday (3/9) as I was driving M to school my car staring making a funny noise. I dropped it off with the mechanic…after several phones calls between Jason (the mechanic), my husband and myself, the problem was found, corrected and I picked up my car when I got off that evening. No big deal, no cost. Ok we’re good. Also that Monday I started feeling bad, like I had a really bad head cold, it progressed as the week went on. I left work a little early on Tuesday and didn’t go in on Wednesday. Thursday I went to work then the doctor. I knew it was probably a sinus infection, I get one every year about this time. In fact the doctor said it had been exactly a year since I’d been there. He put me on antibiotics, a decongestant, cough medicine and an emergency inhaler. He also told me to get my breathing checked, my wheezing was really bad. I had already planned that because lately it has just got worse and worse when I exercise or engage in any activity.

On Friday (3/13) my breathing was really bad. I could hardly catch my breath. By the time I got off work I was scared. Ken had had enough and he left work to take me the hospital. Future note to self, don’t go to the hospital on Friday the 13th! I didn’t even think about that till we got there and seen the mad house. Because I was having breathing difficulty I got a red bracelet, high priority they said, it still took 45 minutes to get to the back. Once back there, they immediately started me on oxygen, my oxygen levels was low cause I couldn’t get a full breath in and my heart rate was up trying to compensate for it. I get the oxygen, 3 prednisones, x-rays and 3 breathing treatments. I did not, thank goodness, have pneumonia. Had I waited any longer it would have probably developed. My oxygen level remained low and they probably would have admitted me if they had a bed to put me in. But nope, they kept me till midnight and since we live so close said I could go home. Final diagnoses, besides the sinus infection, a viral infection in my lungs with bronchial spasms along with activity endused asthma. Treatment, all of the above for the sinus infection plus prednisone and breathing treatments with the nebulizer along with rest and stay away from temperature change (no going outside) and stay away from sick people, thanks goodness the kids were with their other parents.

This past Monday (3/16) I stayed home. I was just to tired and weak from forcing my body to breath, I could hardly function. Which is what the doctors were really worried about when I was in the hospital, my body getting to tired to breath and my airway would shutdown. I’ve never really thought about that happening but after last week I can see how it does. During my resting on Monday I noticed a itch that only comes from when women take antibiotics. Joy, joy, fun, fun, I have another infection to deal with. On Tuesday I called my nurse and she called in a prescription for that. I went to work. It was a very draining day but I made it through. Wednesday was better but boy was I tired again when I got home.

Now it’s Thursday and I can’t wait for the weekend. I feel better but I’m by no means close to 100%. The doctor at the ER and my family doctor both said I’ll probably feel the effects for 2 to 3 weeks. I did make the appointment to have my breathing evaluated. It’s in April, they wanted to make sure I was over what I have now so they can get a true reading. I just want to sleep in on Saturday morning. We have the kids this weekend. Ken’s kids have been sick this week but I think they’re getting better. Ken has to go in Saturday morning to work the St. Patrick’s Day parade that was postponed due to rain from last Saturday. The girls have a tennis camp but they don’t have to be there till 12:30 so at least I get to take my time getting ready Saturday. I’ll make sure Friday night the kids have specific breakfast instructions for Saturday morning so not to bother me before 8:30 unless the house is on fire or someone is bleeding!

On the diet front – well that is gone by the waste side completely! Taking prednisone isn’t the greatest for dieting or moods. I’ve wanted to eat everything in site even though I don’t have an apatite for anything and my mood swings are about to drive Ken crazy. Only a few more days on that stuff thank goodness! If you read this sweet husband of mine, I’m sorry, I’ll try to make it up to you! Also, thank you sweetheart for taking such good care of me and a thank you to my mom for spending the weekend babysitting me so Ken could work. He didn’t want me to be by myself incase I needed to get back to the hospital quickly.

I want warm weather, healthy minds, bodies and spirits!! Spring please come, I’m ready!!!

I miss my laptop.

It’s true I do not spend as much time on the computer if I can’t have it sitting in my lap…I miss my laptop. Am I that lazy that I don’t want to go sit at a desk to type and surf the net? No, I think not, I think I just spent more time on the laptop due to the convenience of having it wherever I was in the house, multi-tasking as I see it. I could sit in on the counter in the kitchen, type a little, watch tv and fold clothes. I want my laptop back! We bought the desktop computer for the kids. It was getting where every time we turned around one of them needed the computer. It seems like the 15 year old has to do all his homework on a computer (so he says) and I didn’t like having to give up my time on it, whether I was surfing the net, blogging or balancing the check book, him taking 2 to 3 hours a night was not going to work out especially if the girls needed it too so off we went to buy the desktop for them and no sooner than we get the darn thing set up than the laptop crashes so we’re back to square one, one computer. I do plan to have some one take look at the laptop before long. Did I mention I miss my laptop.?.

Last weekend we went shopping for a new washer and dryer. When it takes several cycles to dry your clothes and you can see your electric bill going up because of it, yes it’s time to invest in new ones. We went to Sears then we went to Lowes. At Lowes we found a GE front load washer and dryer in metallic silver, I never thought of having a pretty washer and dryer before now. They were on sale, granted not near the low price as a standard set but it’s what I wanted and we have the money so we bought them. They are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow or Saturday. I have to admit it was very hard to write such a large check and walk out with nothing but a long receipt and the warranty information. Yes, you better believe I bought the extended warranty for those pricey machines. I’ve heard the front load washer can be delicate so I wanted to make sure if anything happened we are covered.

Now here lies my dilemma, we have spent money on a new computer and new washer and dryer this past month not to mention our family trip to Asheville, then Ken went to the dentist on Monday and finds out he has to have extensive work done. So do I call Lowes and tell them I can’t afford that particular set, we’ll come in and exchange the pretty front load set for a standard set because you know that would be the wise thing to do or do I suck it up keep the washer and dryer I want and figure out how to pay for an oral surgeon and dentist when the time comes. Don’t get me wrong, we’re not completely broke in fact after Ken’s dental insurance I’m sure we’ll have the money to pay for everything, I just don’t want to have nothing saved up. We’ve been saving money and working on the house which is what that money was for plus with my job not being so stable right now I wanted that cushion to fall back on if need be. I don’t know what to do!

I haven’t wrote anything about my diet lately. There’s a reason for that, it’s gone out the window! No not really but it feels like it today. I have some days where I do really well and others that, let’s just say I don’t do well at all, like yesterday when I ate a big lunch and dinner. Loosing weight would be so much easier if I didn’t like Mexican food. It gets me every week! I did get a request this morning that gives me a little more motivation…a friend of mine has asked me to be in her wedding. So now, I have the bikini from last year and a wedding to get me moving. Hopefully that’ll be enough. I’m looking forward to springing forward this weekend so when I get home in the evenings we can walk, run, bike ride, in general get out and get some exercise, I think we all need it.

I know I really should blog more often so not to write so much at one time. I’ll try to. It does make me feel better to blog. To just write about what’s been going in my life. Kind of like a diary but one that the world can see.

My past few days

Boy what a past few days I've had. With it being end of month, work was stressful this week trying to make budget so I can keep my job. I'm a residential underwriter for title insurance company and as everybody knows the real estate world has crashed. The company I work for is the largest in the US if not the world now that they just acquired several other companies. Back in the fall we had to take a pay cut just to keep our jobs then they started closing offices in our state and laying off people in other offices. My manager has done a good job at keeping the 3 of us so far but I don't know how much longer that will last. We were told a certain figure we had to reach each month and by the skin of our teeth we've made it the past 2 months. I pray everyday we can hang in there till the market turns around. In my office we have 3 people, with me being the last one hired therefore I would be the first to go. So Ken and I have decided to hold off on anymore renovations to the house just in case. We'll do the little things like painting but no major kitchen work right now. We did have to break down this weekend and buy a new washer and dryer. Can I tell you how sick it makes me to spend that kind of money but it had to be done. We're having to dry clothes at least 2 times, sometimes 3 depending on what it is like towels or jeans. Of course we could of went with the old standard top load washer and matching dryer but I don't plan to buy new ones for many years so we splurged and got the front load washer and matching dryer in metalic silver. I have to say they are the prettiest washer and dryer I've ever seen and they will match the stainless steel appliances we get next year. But I'm still not over writing that huge check at Lowes and the worst part is they had to order the darn things. We won't get them till Friday or Saturday. I left Lowes spending more money than I ever have with nothing but a really long receipt! Of course this purchase comes on the heels of buying the new desktop computer week before last which was a good thing because the laptop crashed Friday!! I already miss my laptop. I probably won't be doing as much on the computer if I can't sit on the couch in front of the tv to do it. I guess we'll get somebody to look it to see if it's salvagable. Then last night Ken found his cell phone in the driveway. He must have dropped it when we came in yesterday afternoon and didn't find it till we got in last night from dinner at Bonefish (which was yummy by the way, it's been awhile since I'd been). We figure the phone had been out in the rain for about 4 hours or so and it was either stepped on or ran over because the screen is cracked. More money that has to be spent this week to buy a new one. Does it ever end???

My dieting has gone out the door, well not really but kind of. I did see 126.5 yesterday, which is the lowest I've been in months but like I said above we went to Bonefish last night so I didn't see 126.5 today:( I'll do better next week and try to exercise more than I did this week.

On bright note - it's snowing again!! I can't believe it's March and snowing. This will be our third snow storm! We haven't had snow like this in years. Thankfully our school system has already delayed school 2 hours in the morning. Making sure they don't have a repeat of their goof up last time I bet.

Last night after Bonefish we came home to watch a movie we had rented earlier, Fireproof. It was the best movie ever! I really wanted to see it when it came out at the movie theater but just didn't get the chance. I am so glad we watched it last night. It's a must see if you haven't.

I guess that just about catches you up on my past few days. I'm going to look at the snow some more then get ready for bed. Good Night, God Bless and Happy Blogging =)
